When treating a substance use disorder at Behavioral Services Center, we address all the symptoms-cognitive, behavioral, and physiological intensive outpatient setting where the patient is actively involved in their every-day life while undergoing treatment and even detox. Our team of psychologists, clinicians, recovery and life coaches work together to help improve the quality of life of the addicted individual and address triggering situations as they arise.

Behavioral Services Center offers an integrative approach to substance abuse treatment. Our professional staff combines knowledge and expertise when providing treatment for addiction. Our Clinicians are trained in Mindfulness and acceptance therapy, The Community Reinforcement approach, individualized Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Recovery/Life-coaching, Stress Management/coping strategies, and Education to treat the whole person, and find the approach that fits you best.

It doesn’t matter what type of substance or drug someone uses or abuses. Treatment is customized to help you overcome alcohol, caffeine, cannabis (marijuana, pot, THC), hallucinogens (phencyclidine or similarly acting arylcyclohexylamines), inhalants (paint, glue, air duster, etc), opioid or opiates (heroin, morphine, Vicodin, opium, Norco), sedatives and anxiolytics (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, sleeping pills), hypnotics (acid, mushrooms, LSD, syrup), stimulants (amphetamine-type substances, cocaine, meth, and other stimulants), tobacco, and other (or unknown) substances such as K2, bath salts, and spice use disorders.

According to the latest research, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Version Five (DSM-V, 2013) summarizes Substance Use Disorders-AKA: Addiction, Substance Abuse, Alcoholism, drug use, or drug abuse as follows: “The essential feature of a substance use disorder is a cluster of cognitive, behavioral, and physiological symptoms indicating that the individual continues using the substance despite significant substance-related problems” (p. 483).

How can a person gain personal insight into one or more of the above criteria without proper professional help, only in a group setting, detox only, or even only in an in-patient Setting?  THEY CAN’T!

“Personal insight” is what’s unique about the individual suffering from alcoholism, addiction, or substance abuse within the aforementioned domains.  Obtaining treatment only in a “group setting” or detox alone will remedy the withdrawal symptoms and perhaps educate the addicted person(s) or alcoholic, but fail to address individual cognitive, behavioral, and physiological symptoms on a more personal level. In-patient treatment is good…if a person needs to be temporarily removed from their personal environment for some reason. But let’s face it, it’s much easier to remain abstinent while in a locked setting without the stressors of everyday life.
